Fun Wedding Dessert Bars

Stressing out over your wedding cake choice? Cut the cake, and try something different! Dessert bars are trending, and their options are becoming limitless. If you have a sweet tooth, but cake isn’t your thing, learn why brides are opting out of a traditional wedding cake and choosing unique, fun dessert options instead!

Why not cake?

Wedding cakes have been a must at weddings for so many years, and we’ve all dreamed of a seven-tiered cake dressed in white icing, flowers, and a cute bride and groom topper at the top. Why opt out? Break the tradition- if you’re planning a non-traditional, or more casual wedding, and want another way to bring your personal touch to the reception, choose a dessert bar that fits your theme, preference, and personality. Budget got you blocked? Wedding cakes can cost between $450-$900 depending on size, guest count, and flavors, so a dessert bar can be a more cost effective option. Have a picky guest list? A dessert bar is a great way to provide options for you, your groom, and everyone on your guest list, and it’s a great way to add a special end to your big day. See below for some of our favorite dessert bar options:

Everybody Needs a Cookie

We’ve all seen donut bars and cupcake tables, but what about cookies? With cake, you can be limited to one or two flavors, but a cookie bar lets you choose all of your favorites! Chocolate chip, sugar, snickerdoodle, or maybe you have a family recipe that everyone will love. Most bakeries can make large batches of cookies for the same cost (or maybe even less!) than a wedding cake. If you want the variety with a little bit of class, do a personalized cookie with your new monogram or an iced cookie in your wedding colors, or opt for a cute macaroon bar instead!

All You Need is Love, and Chocolate

When in doubt, cover it in chocolate! Have a fondue bar, but without all the mess. From chocolate covered strawberries to chocolate covered pretzels, your chocolate bar has no limits. If you’re worried about your wedding budget you can even make these sweet treats yourself, or if you have a bridesmaid who loves to bake, helping with the desserts can be her wedding gift to you!

Mini Bar with a Twist

Offer miniature versions of your favorite desserts- pies, cupcakes, or lemon bars. You can even mix and match in cute tiered displays. If you’re looking for something different, try dessert shooters like s’mores in a jar, trifles, or parfaits. Your guests will appreciate the small, easy-to-carry treats, and there will be an option for everyone to enjoy!

Cheers!
A dessert bar doesn’t have to be just sweet treats- opt for a fun drink option instead! If you’re having a spring or summer wedding, be bold with a fun mimosa bar with champagne, juices, and fresh fruit. If you’re getting married in the fall or winter, create a coffee or hot chocolate bar to keep your guests warm and dancing into the night!

Mixing up your dessert bar is a great way to bring a unique and thoughtful touch to your special day. Pick something that groom will love, and your guests will love it too! If you want to cut the cake, but you still want some dessert options, have your caterer make a personalized cake for cutting and put together a dessert bar for your guests. Cookies, chocolate, mini cupcakes, or miniature pies- you can’t go wrong with sweet treats for your big day!
