At Best Bride, we pride ourselves on our ability to make each couple’s dream wedding become a breathtaking reality. Every once in a while there is a couple whose individual style, class, and elegance make wedding planners “ooh!” and “aah!” with inspired delight. Tom and Melanie were one such couple.
Melanie Weinstein and Tom Howe met on a popular online dating website, and were surprised to find that they not only lived in the same neighborhood, but that they only lived a few yards apart! Melanie, who is a culinary graduate, found a soulmate in Tom, who loves world travel and trying new things. Together, the two of them wanted a wedding style that not only expressed their love for food and travel, but also their endless love for each other.
On September 17, 2016, Melanie and Tom exchanged vows in the intimate, park-like backyard of the Weinstein home, surrounded by cherished family and friends. The sparkling garden ceremony featured soft lighting, rustic textures, and rich combinations of crystal, gold, and silver.
Melanie and Tom chose a unique combination of modern and vintage details that left guests feeling like they’d stepped into another time. This was a timeless place where “antique” and “elegantly modern” flowed seamlessly together.
The detail that made all the difference? The stunning flowers! Rich, full arrangements of baby’s breath, peonies, and roses radiated a romantic air, while carefully placed succulents maintained an underlying whisper of masculinity. They even incorporated succulents into their wedding cake!
Melanie and Tom couldn’t have picked a better venue to support their timeless theme. The surrounding evergreens framed the backyard, giving the impression that guests weren’t in a yard at all, but rather a moonlit forest grove.
Melanie wore a full-lace, trumpet silhouette dress. Arguably simple yet strikingly elegant, it maintained the modern-meets-vintage style of the wedding. Her bridesmaids were dressed in differing styles and sparkling textures, each girl maintaining her own individuality while wearing the most flattering dress for her body type.
Tom looked all sorts of dashing in his tweed vest, light blue tie, and charming cabbie hat. But what was the most memorable piece of Tom’s ensemble? The flash of bright blue on the back of his vest! His dapper groomsmen sported suspenders and light blue ties, just like Tom’s
Although the newlyweds were concerned with the overall aesthetic of their big day, their main concern was the happiness of their guests. Wooden fans and specialied matches were offered as guests arrived and found their tables. Each placemat was adorned with a schedule of the evening (which is a wonderful way of letting your guests in on the fun that is to come!) Each setting also included individually bottled portions of bourbon bacon salted caramel sauce. YUM!
The handcrafted cocktail menu focused mainly on gin, while incorporating some insanely unique ingredients like scallions, wild arugula, and a rhubarb-infused St.Germain foam. Guests also enjoyed live music for the duration of the evening. It’s thoughtful little details like this that will keep guests raving about your wedding for years to come!
Best Bride was truly honored to be a part of Melanie and Tom’s big day, one of our favorite weddings to date! We wish them many joyful years overfowing with compassion, laughter, and unconditional love.
